Business Bay is a central business district and features numerous skyscrapers located in an area where Dubai Creek will be dredged and extended. Business Bay when completed will have upwards of 240 buildings, comprising commercial and residential developments featuring some of the best apartments in Dubai. Business Bay will be the new 'city' within the city of Dubai and is being built as a commercial, residential and business cluster along a new extension of Dubai Creek extending from Ras Al Khor to Sheikh Zayed Road. Covering an area of 64 million square feet, once completed it will comprise office and residential towers set in landscaped gardens with a network of roads, pathways and canals. It will become the region's business capital as well as a freehold city.
Business Bay is located in the heart of Dubai and right next to Downtown Dubai and Dubai Metro. With the airport just 20 minutes away, the locality is located between Sheikh Zayed Road and Al Khail Road, which makes travelling to all other locations quite easy, a convenient location for offices in Downtown Dubai.
Dubai Creek Extension is a part of the Business Bay development. The plan involves the expansion of the current 14 km long Dubai Creek to 26.2 km. Dubai Creek will be extended from its original place to Business Bay to the Arabian Gulf through Safa Park and Jumeirah. The project will be carried out in three phases. Marine transit stations will be provided throughout the Canal to ease the movement of the public and promote the marine and tourist mass transit.
The RTA is carrying out several improvements on the key roads intersecting the Canal as well as the surrounding areas such as Jumeirah and Al Safa neighbourhoods including the construction of roads alongside the Canal to assist the mobility between those districts. As for pedestrians, a free and safe movement will be provided by constructing 3 pedestrian bridges across the Canal in addition to footpaths on all the new main bridges passing over the Canal. Moreover, tracks dedicated to practicing light sports, such as jogging and cycling, will be constructed along both sides of the Canal. Landscaping works will also be made in both sides of the Canal including greens, benches, and public relaxation areas, among other various facilities and tourist-oriented projects.
Most of Business Bay’s residents work in the office and commercial buildings within the locality. Many young professionals and small families live in the area. Business Bay is also home to the highest hotel in the world (JW Marriott Marquis), an inviting landscaped park, bike rentals and a selection of dining and leisure spots. Bay Avenue, which runs along the cluster of Executive Towers, is in the process of recreating the feel of Jumeirah Beach Residence and families flock there on the weekends and evenings to enjoy the outdoors and catch a meal on the walk. Residents can enjoy gymnasiums, swimming pools, clinics, day-care centres and schools nearby.
