Quiet, quaint community in the heart of Dubai’s Downtown area
Amid the high-rises of Dubai Downtown area and in the shadow of the world’s tallest tower the Burj Khalifa, lies the Old Town. The low-rise, three storey apartments and mid-rise buildings (including penthouses) have been sculpted in traditional Arab architectural styles – resembling materials used in the 20th century such as gypsum and clay, and with natural tones that complement its surroundings.
A total of six ‘quarters’ comprise the Old Town (named Yansoon, Zaafaran, Reehan, Zanzebeel, Kamoon and Miska), and provide 1,560 residential units with one, to four bedrooms ranging from 600 square feet to 2,550 square feet. The pedestrianised areas surrounding the buildings ensure the community is a quiet haven away from the hustle and bustle of Downtown, and are populated with pavement cafes and shops along its green boulevards. Inside, the properties are equipped with modern facilities, they are light and airy with high ceilings and feature traditional Arabic motifs, which complement its overall architecture.
The Old Town is the perfect place for all the family with its children’s play areas, leisure areas, swimming pool facilities and its games room and gymnasium for the health conscious. It also boasts an entertainment lounge, aerobics room, squash courts and steam rooms – as well as coffee shops to relax after a work-out.
Being located just off Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard means that residents are a stone’s throw from the Dubai Mall, Downtown, the Burj Khalifa and Souk Al Bahar.
Dubai Mall is one of the world’s largest shopping and entertainment centres, with more than 1,200 retail outlets, an indoor ice skating rink, a cinema equipped with 22 screens, games zone Sega Republic and the record-breaking Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo. Diving experiences are available in the Aquarium, and boat trips are also taken on the surface of the huge tank.
The Mall is also home to the underground Gold Souk, selling gold and jewellery at competitive prices, while the Fashion Avenue is a draw for anyone seeking high-end brands.
One of the most famous landmarks is the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest tower, whose entrance is located on the lower ground floor of the Dubai Mall. The tower stands are more than 828 metres with more than 160 storeys, and views can be taken in from the 125th floor Observation Deck. Its fine dining experience At.mosphere is located on the 122nd level, and the tower is also home to the Armani Residences and Hotel.
Just outside the Mall, visitors flock to the Dubai Fountain: the world’s largest choreographed dancing fountain, located in the 30-acre Burj Khalifa Lake, at the base of the world’s tallest
tower. Just across from the Mall and Lake stands the Souk Al Bahar development, with its signature retail outlets and numerous waterfront cafes and restaurants. Just adjacent to the foot of the tower lies the Burj Park – a green, landscaped area available to residents and visitors 24 hours a day.
